Boyne AC’s Dublin Marathon entrants continued their build-up to the big event by competing in the Dublin Half Marathon.

First to cross the line for the club was Robert Fitzgerald with a PB of 1:32:13 and next were Mark Dowling and Keith Smyth who crossed the line together in 1:34:33 – another PB for Keith.

Nicola Veale was the first female to finish for the club, looking comfortable with a time of 1:50:32.

Paul Brennan ran a super 1:55:12, Lisa Lambe 2:08.00 and Helen McDermott 2:11:29. Training buddies Jean-Marie Nawn and Deirdre Cadden – who will be attempting her first marathon – followed in 2:14.08 and 2.17.38 respectively. Also taking on the 13.1-mile distance was Bala Baskaran, finishing in 2:52:05.

The competitors were delighted to be able to see and hear so many supporters from the Boyne club cheering them along the route.

Incidentally, there will be eight members of Boyne AC competing in the Irish Life Dublin Marathon on Sunday October 27.

In other news Rebecca Carolan took on her toughest challenge yet, conquering the Seven Sisters Skyline 55k Ultra on Saturday.

This beast of a race spans seven mountain peaks across the rugged Derryveagh Mountains in Donegal, with an epic 4,000m of climb – and Carolan reached the finish in an amazing 11 hours and 16 minutes, securing her spot as the fifth female finisher.
