In an electrifying encounter at the National Basketball Arena, Flexachem KCYMS showcased their dominance with a resounding 97 points to 71 victory over Templeogue, a result that lifts the Killorglin club to sixth place in the Super League, albeit that all the teams below them have at least one game in hand.
In a contest in which the visitors dazzled with 13 three-pointers, while Templeogue kept pace with 12, Flexachem KCYMS’s largest lead soared to an impressive 32 points, underlining their skill and teamwork.
This match was a testament to the thrilling spectacle of mixed basketball, and from the tip-off, Flexachem KCYMS asserted their dominance, racing to a staggering 34-17 lead in the first period, led by the sharpshooting Clayton Ladine, who netted 18 points, including six three-pointers.
The second period saw Templeogue fight back, matching the visitors with 19 points, but they still trailed 53-36 at half time.
The third period was a display of Flexachem KCYMS’s defensive prowess, limiting Templeogue to just eight points while scoring 20 themselves, which extended their lead to 73 points to 44, to keep the home support pretty much silent in the vast arena.
Jeffery Echezonachukwu Okeke shone brightly for the Kerry club, adding 10 points and securing 10 rebounds, showcasing his double-double performance.
Though Templeogue rallied in the final period, outscoring Flexachem KCYMS by 27 points to 24, it was not enough to close the gap. Clayton Ladine finished with a remarkable double-double of 30 points and 14 rebounds, sealing a resounding 26-point victory for the visitors.
Flexachem KCYMS will look to make it three from three games when they host Neptune on Saturday in the Killorglin Sports Complex with a at 7:15pm tip-off.
This will be the first of four home games on the trot for Flexachem KCYMS with Maree coming to Killorglin on January 25, followed by the visits of Killester and then Ballincollig in early February.
