Florida State Seminoles fans are known for their football team, but they’re also known for their ability to party.
So when they arrived in Dublin, Ireland for a ‘Week 0’ football game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, they brought that party with them from Tallahassee.
Multiple tweets from fans at the stadium report that the Florida State fans drank the Aviva Stadium out of beer – or at least on their half of the stadium.
‘Holy crap… the stadium ran out of beer,’ one tweet read. ‘The Noles literally drank the Irish stadium dry in the first quarter.’
That tweet was quickly followed up with another saying ‘I think we’re back in business… but lines are insane’ and then an image of two pints of Guinness with the caption ‘Crisis averted’.
Florida State fans who traveled to Ireland reportedly drank the Aviva Stadium out of beer
They then went on to watch their Seminoles lose on a walk-off field goal to Georgia Tech
Over half an hour later, a pair of tweets from two different accounts seemed to say similar things.
‘FSU drank them out of everything but Guinness before Halftime!,’ wrote one FSU fan in the stands.
Another tweet from a Florida State podcaster reported from sources that ‘Aviva Stadium has run out of Guiness (sic) on the Florida State side concourses and is rapidly bringing more over from the GT concourse side to accommodate.’
But those reports had cold water thrown on them by Sirius XM College Football host Barrett Sallee who was at the stadium.
‘I saw some people on here saying that the stadium is out of beer,’ Sallee’s tweet read. ‘I can assure you that there is still plenty of beer.’
Well, if that’s the case, those Florida State fans may have been in desperate need of some beer to drown their sorrows.
The tenth-ranked Seminoles lost to Georgia Tech 24-21 thanks to a walk-off field goal by kicker Aidan Birr.
Georgia Tech head coach Brent Pry moved to 5-0 against ranked Atlantic Coast Conference opponents with the Yellow Jackets as Tech clinched their first win over a top-10 opponent since 2015 – which, incidentally, came on a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown against none other than Florida State.
