GAA enthusiasts Pat and Ann Fee met in 1984 and since then, they have not missed a Galway football game.

Pat told the Irish Independent: “We travel all over the country, we’ve travelled up to Donegal, we’ve travelled to Derry, Monaghan, anywhere there’s a game we go. Every Sunday or Saturday, during the winter time and the summer time.

“It’s great fun because you meet so many people and you get to know so many people, and the banter is the best thing of the whole lot.”

Pat is originally from County Cavan, but started following Galway after meeting Corofin native Ann. The couple, who has been married for almost 40 years, currently lives in Claregalway, and together every year they follow Corofin GAA club and the Galway football team.

Pat explained: “When I was a young fella I used to follow Cavan all over the place, but you don’t get many chances to follow them around as much as Galway.

“I love Galway football, it’s a different type of football than any other place, and the people are so nice.

“We live in Claregalway but Ann’s heart is in Corofin, so we follow Corofin all the way, it’s only 10 miles down the road.”

However, this year they might not get to watch the All-Ireland final in Dublin: “We used to get a season ticket and then this year we didn’t, because we thought we might not get as far this year.”

For this reason, the couple is now appealing to anyone who has two extra tickets as Pat said: “Anyone who has tickets out there, that’s not going to the match, I’d be glad to take them off their hands.

“We followed Galway in 1998 when they won the All-Ireland and we were then in 2001 when they won the second All-Ireland. So I hope on Sunday that we will see them win for the third time since we started following them.

Pat added: “I think Galway will win. It will be tight but I think Galway will win about a couple of points, it will be close enough.”
