A total of 16 people will appear before courts on Friday after a major garda operation in Dublin led to arrests.

The weeks-long plan, executed as part of Operation Thor, was carried out by gardaí in the Coolock and Raheny areas.

These operations specifically targeted individuals living in communities in North Dublin, who are engaging in targeted property crime and profiting from criminal activities.

A total of 16 arrests were carried out – 13 males and 3 females aged from 14 to 55.

They have been charged with 62 offences, including, burglary, theft, criminal damage, robbery and unauthorised taking of a vehicle.

All 16 will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ), Cloverhill District Court, Swords and Balbriggan District Court and Dublin Children’s Court today at 10.30am, Friday, October 4.

Operation Thor is a garda initiative designed to tackle the anticipated increase in the number of burglaries and associated criminal activity that usually occur in winter months by undertaking targeted enforcement and preventative activity.

This initiative has successfully reduced the rate of winter burglaries, leading to a significant decline in property-related crime since its introduction in 2015.
