Gardaí say they are investigating all the circumstances around the discovery of a dead man aged in his late 40s in a house in Lucan, Co Dublin on Sunday morning.
Gardaí have arrested a man aged in his 20s in relation to the man’s death.
Emergency services were alerted to an incident at a residential property at Old Bridge Park, Lucan shortly after 8am this morning.
The deceased man was discovered inside the property.
The arrested man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in West Dublin.
Gardaí confirmed the coroner has been notified and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau and State Pathologist have been requested.
A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Lucan Garda Station. And a Family Liaison Officer (FLO) will be appointed to support the deceased’s family.
The scene has been preserved for a forensic and technical examination and a post-mortem examination has been arranged.
In an update on Sunday evening, the force said the arrested man is still in custody.
The dead man’s body had been removed to the Dublin City Mortuary, where a post-mortem will take place in due course.
