Ticketholders for Hamilton’s touring production are being reassured that future performances of the musical are expected to go ahead as planned.
It followed the cancellation of Tuesday evening’s performance at Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre at short notice due to cast illness.
“Please note, as it stands all future performances of Hamilton at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre will go ahead as scheduled,” the theatre said in a statement today.
Yesterday it confirmed Tuesday evening’s show would not go ahead “due to cast illness” and that all affected customers would receive an automatic refund via Ticketmaster or their alternative point of purchase.
It described the cancelled show as an “unavoidable” situation and said “every effort was made to proceed with the performance as planned”.
The theatre apologised to affected patrons and said it would attempt to add to the performance schedule to allow those ticket-holders to see the production.
“We will endeavour to find an alternative performance that we can add to the performance schedule before the end of the run, and should we be able to do so we will inform you as soon as possible to allow for priority booking.”
Hamilton cast member Jon Hermosa Lopez commented on TikTok that it is the first time the tour has had to cancel a show.
“Always frustrating when anything gets cancelled, today was our first ever cancelled show this tour and as you can tell this show is super super tough,” he wrote.
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s multi-award-winning musical phenomenon tells the story of lesser-known US founding father and the first secretary of the treasury, Alexander Hamilton, through rap and hip-hop.
All Hamilton performances in Dublin are sold out. The musical runs at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre until November 16.
