The Irish premiere of Gladiator II takes place tonight.
Great news for Paul Mescal fans…
The highly anticipated Irish premiere of Gladiator II is happening tonight, with Paul Mescal gracing the red carpet at Dublin’s Lighthouse Cinema.
This sequel to the hugely successful Gladiator—which earned over €432 million and won five Oscars, including Best Picture—comes after years of speculation and development. In Gladiator II, Mescal stars as Lucius, the son of Russell Crowe’s iconic character Maximus, picking up the story 15 years after Maximus’s death.
Now, the Colosseum is more violent and brutal than ever, with crowds goading the twin emperors toward greater cruelty. Lucius, fighting through the ranks, seeks vengeance against the Roman Empire as it aggressively expands, subjugating cultures and forcing survivors into the arena.
For Mescal, this film is a major step, marking his first lead role in a global epic—a far cry from his role as Conall in Normal People. The movie is set to release in Irish cinemas on November 15.
Mescal is joined by Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, and Connie Nielsen int he new movie.
Will you be heading out to the lighthouse tonight to catch a glimpse?
