If you’re chronically online, or a Drumcondra local, you’re likely to have come across Dublin’s hottest attraction of 2025: Cherry Tomato Bridge.
What started as a few lose cherry tomatoes on a bridge in Drumcondra has become a kind of tomato-based shrine, with fans adding packets of ketchup, framed photos, and tins of chopped tomatoes to the mix.
The fact that the edible items appear to have gone untouched by birds, and unmoved by wind or rain, seems to have added to the mythology of the now internet-famous spot.
i would like to make every non-irish person here aware that there is a bridge in dublin that someone left a few cherry tomatoes on a couple days ago and it has now become a national treasure and people are queueing to see the tomatoes and add tomatoes to it themselves pic.twitter.com/284STcwOFh

Much like the man who slipped on ice in 2010, the details of this viral-worthy moment are shrouded in mystery. The origins of the tomatoes are currently unknown but early documentation can be found on Kelly Earley’s ">Instagram and Sarah Maria Griffin's TikTok. Earley told RTÉ Lifestyle that she dubbed the spot overlooking Dublin's Royal Canal as 'Cherry Tomato Bridge', and that both she and Sarah began flooding TikTok with memes to get the trend started. "One video I posted of my girlfriend got over 3 million views"," Earley said, noting that, although funny, the phenomenon has proved "a need for third spaces" and free things to do in Ireland. "When you look up "Free things to do in Dublin" most of them are things that every Dubliner has exhausted by the time they're 15 years old," she said.
