The NTA has confirmed that there will be less direct trains to the area soon.

Changes to train timetables in North Dublin could be bad news for Howth.

As it stands the DART serves Howth and Howth Junction.

But the demand for capacity on Irish Rail’s Northern Line could mean less trains to Howth itself.

Speaking to the Indo, the NTA acknowledged that in order to facilitate passengers in the likes of Drogheda, Skerries and Balbriggan – they may have to run fewer trains between Howth and Howth Junction.

This is to run more trains on the Northern Commuter Line.

The NTA says shuttle services would run at peak times between the two Howth stations.

But ultimately it would mean less DART services to Howth itself – until more carriages come on-stream or another solution is found.
