The final weekend of the national track and field championships took place in Tullamore last weekend, a weekend that brought huge success to St Peter’s AC.

Rory McLoughlin hasn’t raced much this year but had trained well in recent times so went into the U23 800m championship race knowing he was in good shape. The race was a tight affair over the first 400m lap and the expected burn up in the second lap really kicked off with about 200m to go. Rory was in sixth place with 150m to the finish but he tore up the home straight to finish third in a time of 1.54.84 and clinch the bronze medal.
