Republic of Ireland international Megan Connolly has joined Serie A Femminile side Lazio on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old moves to Rome after leaving Bristol City following the end of her contract.

Details of the length of her contract were not disclosed.

Connolly moved to Brighton and Hove Albion in 2019, after four years with the Florida State Seminoles. The Cork native had been on a scholarship at Florida State University studying sports management.

She departed the Seagulls in 2023 to join Bristol City, where she made a swift impact. Connolly was named skipper as the Robins looked to kick on following their promotion from the Championship.

However they endured a tough campaign in the Women’s Super League, finishing bottom to return to the second tier.

Last week Connolly announced she’d be moving on from Bristol. A key and versatile player for her country, it’s Lazio who’ve won the race for her signature.

They are preparing for life in Serie A having won Serie B last season.

Their opening fixture of the 2024/25 campaign is a derby against fierce rivals Roma, a game known as the Derby della Capitale, on 30 August.
