The final 11 athletes representing Ireland in para equestrian, para rowing and para triathlon were confirmed, bringing to 35 the number of competitors heading for France.
Amongst those named today were Judith and Chloe MacCombe, the Derry twins who along with their guides Eimear Nicholls and Catherine Sands, will compete in the Triathlon in Paris.
An Irish rowing team will be back in the Olympic games for the first time since London 2012 with Galway’s Kate O’Brien and Limerick’s Tiarnan O’Donnell, a former wheelchair basketball player, pairing up in the PR2 Mixed Double Sculls.
In all the 35 Irish athletes will represent Ireland across nine disciplines. The Paralympic games start on Wednesday August 28 and conclude on Sunday September 8.
Paralympics Ireland Chef de Mission Neasa Russell said: “We are really delighted to be presenting our full Team Ireland for the Paralympic Games. We are incredibly proud of the performances the athletes have put in to get to this point and we are really looking forward to supporting them reach their potential at Paris.”
