On Thursday, Markus Burton went to Instagram to announce that he will be entering his name in the NBA Draft.
You don’t have to read between the lines with Burton’s statement because he highlighted the most important part in gold.
“Over the past few weeks, I’ve looked for better ways to better my game for my sophomore season. While maintaining my eligibility at Notre Dame, I will enter my name into the NBA Draft. The valuable feedback I will receive from this experience will pay dividends on and off the court.”
All this really says to me, is that he is using the tools available to him by the system to get the upmost feedback on his game so he may efficiently improve his game. It’s a very smart move.
Burton had an incredible freshman season for the Irish. The Mishawaka native was the ACC Rookie of the year after averaging 17.5 points and 4.3 assists per game. While the Irish had a poor record this past season, there is a lot of hope for the future as the team is very young and has a fair amount of potential.
Burton will have until May 29th to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft.
