A Dublin city sports bar has announced their closure, but has teased ‘exciting news to come.’

Located on Cathal Brugha Street in the capital, The Living Room will officially close its doors on Monday, January 6.

A statement from the staff at the bar was issued via social media on Thursday afternoon.

CLOSURE

‘It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of The Living Room, our beloved sports bar located in the heart of Dublin,’ they began, ‘For years, our venue has been a gathering place for friends, families and fans from all walks of live who have come together to share unforgettable moments, celebrating major sporting events and life’s milestones together.’

The team extended their ‘deepest gratitude’ to their patrons and staff who have been with them throughout their journey.

They said: ‘The Living Room was more than just a venue, it was a place where memories were made, cheers were shared, and a love for sports brought us all together.’

Confirming their closure on Monday, they said: ‘While this chapter comes to an end, this is not the end of the story.

‘There is exciting news to come, and we can’t wait to share it with you soon.

‘We would like to welcome you all to come join us one last time this weekend, and share a final drink with us before we close our doors.’

‘END OF AN ERA’

Social media users who had frequented the bar took to the comments to share their well wishes, with one saying: ‘End of an era. The reason why I dropped out of college.

‘Will always love you for that.’

Another added: ‘Awh very sad news, it’s where my husband and I met in ’18 watching the world cup.’

A third commented: ‘Sad news, many a great day/ night spent with yous for the big games.’
