YouTube star Spanian has said he was “in shock” after visiting Dublin for the first time.

Anthony Lees, more commonly known as Spanian, has 893K subscribers on YouTube. He is known for travelling the world and walking through some of its most dangerous and notorious neighbourhoods to see how life really is for people living in these places.

Two days ago, he posted a video on YouTube about his visit to Ireland and how he was tracing his heritage.

While in Dublin, he said: “I don’t want to be harsh; how do I say it? I wonder if Dublin was ever good, that’s how I’m going to say it.

“It’s so weird, I went from Belfast genuinely being one of the maddest cities that I’ve ever been to like the vibe of it, I would raise a family there. But here, it’s yuck. It’s a sh*t city bro in every aspect of it.

“Sorry, I love Ireland and I’m sure tomorrow, Limerick is going to be mad, but Dublin is one sh*t city. It was a shock; I can’t believe it’s Ireland.

“I don’t know how long your city’s been like this but that’s yuck. That’s my breakdown, I know it’s harsh, but I have to keep it real.

“I know I’m not going to lose Irish fans over it, you probably know this city’s rubbish itself. I didn’t expect this from Ireland, it’s something you’d expect when you’re in Rome or somewhere like that.

“But anyway, I’m excited for Limerick, I hope it’s a proper Irish town.”

One fan commented: “I love how this YouTuber’s whole schtick is that he did 13 years in prison and now explores the world’s worst hoods but even his spirit was almost instantly broken by spending one night on Talbot Street.”

Another fan said: “He actually loved Limerick and Belfast but had an extreme hatred for Dublin.”
