No major surprises in Thurles yesterday afternoon, with both results panning out as expected. Cork had five points to spare in the opener but Micheál Donoghue’s Dublin side deserve a lot of credit for staying in the fight and emerging with their honour intact after a gutsy second-half display.

Donoghue rang the changes after their insipid Leinster final performance, replacing all three of his inside starting forwards and wing-back Paddy Doyle. They started well and it was tit for tat in the opening 20 minutes with the sides level on six occasions.
