Kate O’Connell on running as an independent in the next election

Former Fine Gael TD Kate O’Connell has ­rejected an invitation by Simon Harris to run for the party in the upcoming general election, declaring she will instead run as an Independent in Dublin Bay South.

The decision is a blow to Harris’s ambitions to win two seats in the Fine Gael heartland of Garret FitzGerald.
