The Kerry juvenile competitive season got underway on Saturday with a competition in Killarney

Kerry had players involved in the Munster F Open and the Munster Senior Open in the SETU Arena in Waterford at the weekend, although no medals made their way back to the Kingdom.

Fergal Hannon and Micheal Belova Flanagan (both Listowel) took part in the Munster Senior Open on Saturday. Micheal lost out to a well playing Tony Murphy from Alpha. Fergal made it to the quarter-finals before losing to Praneel Reddy Vallapureddy, the beaten finalist from Pembroke in Dublin.

In the Munster Grade F Open, Hassib Ahmad and Alvin Rahman Fahad (noth Killarney) teamed up in the doubles. winning their first round game in a close encounter, the second set going all the way to 27-25. In their second round game they fell to a strong Waterford pairing.

Alvin Alvin Rahman then paired up with Kingdom’s Jessica O’Loughlin in the mixed doubles where they were unlucky in their game that went to three sets losing out 21-17 in the third set.

Dublin Juvenile Open

On the weekend of October 26 to 28, Micheal Belova Flanagan was in action in the Dublin Juvenile Open where he had a very successful weekend, as did his sister Alexia Belova Flanagan. Micheal competed in the under-19 age group where he won the boys singles and he also teamed up with Guru Thirukumaran (Carlow) to take the boys doubles title.

Alexia was playing in the under-13 category in the same competition. She made it to all three finals, winning the doubles title with Doireann Moloney (An Droichead) and finishing runner-up in the singles and the mixed doubles competition with her partner Luca Goddard (Alpha).

Kerry Juvenile competition

The Kerry juvenile badminton competitive season got underway on Saturday with a competition in Killarney Sports & Leisure Centre. This competition is a fun event to give Kerry’s first-time players a taste for competitive badminton. Events were run at U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 for boys and girls.

U10 girls doubles final
