Almost 30 years after winning his first World title, the Under-17 Singles championship, Dominick Lynch will be one of the top Irish players when the University of Limerick hosts the 2024 World Championships, which start on Sunday. More than 900 players from all over the world are taking part in the week-long event with Lynch contesting the Master Singles championship as well as teaming up with James Doyle from Armagh in the Doubles competition.

Lynch is no stranger to World championship success. In 2018, when the championships were hosted in Minnesota, he won three gold medals in the Over 35 Singles, the Over 35 Doubles championship with John Joe Quirke (Glenbeigh) and the Over 40 Double championships with Gavin Buggy (Wexford). In 2015 Canada was the venue with Lynch coming home with two gold medals in the Over 35 Single and Doubles finals. In 2012 he also claimed gold in the Over 35 Singles and Doubles finals.
