The Kilcummin man appears to have recovered from the ankle injury that kept him out last week’s semi-final win over Meath and resumes in the no.3 jersey

Kerry have named their team to play Tyrone in Sunday’s All-Ireland Under-20 final in Portlaoise

Kerry have named Dara O’Callaghan at full back on their team to start against Tyrone in Sunday’s All-Ireland Under-20 Football Championship final. The Kilcummin man missed the semi-final win over Meath last weekend in Thurles, having failed to shake off an ankle injury he suffered in the Munster final win over Cork.

O’Callaghan was replaced in the team by Ryan Diggin, who came into the half back line, with Cian Lynch reverting to the full back position in the 0-12 to 0-11 win over the Royals last Saturday.

With O’Callaghan seemingly recovered and able to regain his place in the defence, Diggin returns to the subs bench, with manager Tomás Ó Sé naming the same 15 as he had done before the semi-final, with O’Callaghan only ruled out on the day of the semi-final.

That means Luke Crowley will continue to line out in the full forward line as expected, despite the Kerry hurlers having a must win game against Offaly at the same time on Sunday in Tullamore.

Were it not for the clash in fixtures, Crowley – who plays football with Glenflesk and hurling with Rathmore – would likely have retained his starting place in Stephen Molumphy’s team to face the Faithful county.

Kerry take on Tyrone in Sunday’s final looking to win a first All-Ireland title for the Kingdom in this age grade since 2008. Indeed, Kerry have not appeared in an All-Ireland since that title win 16 years ago, when the competition was at under-21 grade.

Kerry team to play Meath: Michael Tansley; Maidhcí Lynch, Dara O’Callaghan, Gearóid Evans; Charlie Keating, Darragh O’Connor, Cian Lynch; Robert Stack, Eddie Healy; Daniel Kirby, Odhran Ferris, Tomás Kennedy; Luke Crowley, Aidan Crowley, Cormac Dillon.

Subs: James Hoare, Adam Segal, Cathal Brosnan, Fionn Murphy, Ryan Diggin, Evan Boyle, Paddy Lane, Ian O’Sullivan, Liam Evans.
