THE intermediate football championship resumes this Thursday. After this week’s actions group one and two will begin to take shape and clubs will hope to go one step further to qualify for the knockout stages of the Championship. 

In group one, Gerald Griffins are bidding to get their first win of the campaign against St Senan’s on Thursday evening in Askeaton at 6:45pm. Gerald Griffins sit bottom of the table in group one, while it has been mixed campaign for St Senan’s who have won one game and lost one game. Limerick senior footballer James Naughton who plays his club football with St Senan’s will come up against his inter-county teammates which include Jim Liston, Colm McSweeney and Tommy Griffin. 

A day later, on Friday evening Newcastle West meet Castlemahon in Sean Finn Park Rathkeale at 6:45pm. Newcastle West’s sit in second place of group one on two points and Castlemahon who are level on points with them sit just behind Castlemahon on two points. 

The final game of the weekend in group one sees Dromcollogher Broadford take on St Patrick’s on Saturday in Askeaton at 6:45pm. Dromcollogher Broadford sit top of the table in group one, the west Limerick side remain unbeaten in this year’s Championship. Limerick senior footballer Cillian Fahy has impressed for Drumcollogher Broadford. Their St Patick’s are yet to register a win in this year’s Championship. 

Newcastle West and St Patrick’s will play their rescheduled game on Tuesday September 10. Both sides have only played one game in this year’s IFC. 

In group two, second placed Galbally faced third placed Glin in Foynes on Thursday at 6:45pm. A win for either side will go long way in bossting their club’s chance in reaching the knockout stages of the IFC. Limerick senior footballers Barry Coleman and Andrew Meade will be hoping Rathkeale can maintain their unbeaten record. 

On Friday evening, Claughan take on Crecora Manister in Fedamore at 6:45pm. Crecora Manister will look to get their second of the Championship on Friday, while Claughan are yet to register a win this year. 

Later that evening, fourth placed Pallasgreen face off against table toppers Galbally in Hospital at 7:15pm. It has been a mixed so far for Pallasgreen. while Galbally are aiming to book their place into the knockout stages of the IFC this week. 

Round four of the IFC in group one and group two takes place next week from Thursday August 22 until Saturday August 24.
