A LIMERICK law firm has announced that it is to merge with a Dublin-based commercial law practice.

Holmes O’Malley Sexton, based on Henry Street in Limerick City, announced that it will merge with Dublin commercial law firm OCWM Law.

The new deal will mean that clients of both firms will be able to call upon a wider range of legal services and expertise, with more resources and capacity.

The merger will come into effect on October 1, with Holes O’Malley Sexton maintaining its base in Limerick, while also significantly increasing its footprint in Dublin.

A statement from the Henry Street legal firm said that the merger is based on its “commitment to the provision of quality legal services with the same flexibility and personable style that clients have come to expect through the delivery of innovative, pragmatic and commercial solutions”.

The expanded firm will have a staff of more than 150 people, making it one of the largest law firms in the Mid West, offering legal services to both the corporate and private sectors.

Harry Fehily, managing partner of Holmes O’Malley Sexton, said that the merger is an “exciting time” for both firms.

“This is an exciting time for all associated with the firm. This merger brings together two thriving firms, allowing us to leverage our combined strengths in providing the best possible service to our clients.

“The merger will ensure that a Limerick-based firm remains foremost in the legal industry, respecting our traditions and background whilst offering a progressive outlook for the future,” Mr Fehily added.

Philip O’Connor of OCWM Law LLP added that “knowing that the expanded firm shares the same goals and values was a crucial touchstone in our decision”.

“This merger signals our ambition and reflects our commitment to growth while retaining the focus upon relationships that lies at the heart of everything we do”.
