To our sad regret we’ve learned of the death in London of Bridie Maguire, a longstanding friend of the Longford Association in Dublin and a lifetime member of the Longford Association in London; she was one or their Life Presidents.

A native of Mullinalaghta, Bridie trained as a nurse and eventually was a Matron at Homerton hospital in Hackney, where she raised a family of seven, one of whom predeceased her. Her husband was from Ballinamore, Co Leitrim, and died many years ago.
