The Irish railway network said that services will be extremely busy due to several events scheduled over the coming days.

They also confirmed that extra DART and Commuter trains will run this weekend as Taylor Swift performs three sold-out concerts at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

The busy weekend sees events taking place across the city, including Dublin Pride, All-Ireland Quarter Finals at Croke Park, Malahide Castle and Fairview concerts, and Flavours of Fingal in Donabate.

Taylor Swift fans are advised not to arrive at train stations for intercity service if they have not booked a ticket.

Iarnród Éireann Communications Manager Barry Kenny told RTE: “We’re definitely ramping up to provide as much capacity as we can.

“There’s certainly never been a weekend like it in terms of the number of huge events happening at the same time.

“Basically every intercity train en route to Dublin this morning and early afternoon is sold out.

“That’s the same for Saturday and Sunday as well.

“Everything we have will be moving but we are asking our customers to plan their travel.

“If you haven’t booked intercity in advance, don’t turn up to the station. There won’t be tickets available.”

Urgent public transport warning for over 600,000 punters ahead of ‘extremely busy’ weekend over Taylor Swift gigs

He added: “And for DART and commuter, particularly on the way to events, allow more time because they’re going to be so busy it takes longer for people to get on and off.

“Just enable yourself to plan and to travel in comfort.

“So that’s definitely a challenge but we will move everything that we can, we’ve events teams at all the key hubs at Lansdowne, at Drumcondra and the city centre stations, to help people on their way but it is about patience.

“This is not a normal weekend, people do need to allow extra time and to plan their journey.”

Transport for Ireland (TFI) has also issued travel advice to customers, saying an extra 600,000 people will be on the move in addition to the normal public transport demand.

They added: “The Transport for Ireland public transport network, and commercial operators, will provide transport to and from these events however to ensure a smooth journey TFI recommend that passengers travelling from outside of Dublin plan their trip and book tickets in advance for their chosen service.

“Passengers travelling within Dublin should be aware that whilst services will operate as scheduled, there will be extra pressure on public transport, which will impact some services.

“Some diversions and service disruptions will be in place and you may have to walk further than anticipated.”
