Irish Rail took to X to share that trains are seeing delays of up to 85 minutes.

They revealed that the 6am service from Heuston to Cork is running approximately 85 minutes late.

This has caused delays of up to 35 minutes to and from Heuston station as a result.

Services through Newbridge, Co Kildare are seeing delays of up to 30 minutes.

Passengers on the Dundalk/Drogheda commuter to Dublin are also seeing delays of around 10 minutes.

Passengers on board a number of trains have taken to social media to complain about the delays.

One person on board a train from Newbridge said: “Newbridge delayed – I’m sitting on train – this is unacceptable PEOPLE have work to get to ffs no announcement NOTHING- this is 3rd /4thday it’s late.”

Another on the Dundalk line said: “your new timetable and the abolition of the Drogheda/Dundalk train to Bray is an absolute disgrace.

“Very frustrating for all commuters & hopefully will all the complaints u r suggesting people submit that the old train timetable will be reinstated.”

Another on the same train line said: “The new timetable and the discontinued services to Bray is a s*** show.

“Since 26th August every single train I’ve got has been delayed. City Centre connections regularly missed.

“Arriving at work at least 20 minutes later than I used to be. S** SHOW.”

The delays come after a new timetable and extra services were announced last week between Dublin and Galway, Dublin and Waterford, and Dublin and Belfast

The new timetable was confirmed following a public consultation in May/June, which was conducted in conjunction with the National Transport Authority with nearly 1,930 customers participating in it.

All improvements and changes took effect from August 26 – except for hourly Belfast services, which will commence later in the year.

To accommodate hourly Dublin/Belfast services and improve punctuality, customers are also asked to note that departure times are proposed to change on many DART, Northern Commuter, and Maynooth Commuter services.

Amongst stopping pattern changes, customers on the Sligo/Dublin Connolly route will benefit from an interchange with the Luas Green line with the proposal to stop all services at Broombridge instead of a limited number of services currently.
