Gardaí have arrested a man after a woman in her 60s was assaulted during an aggravated burglary in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

At around 2am today, Monday, November 25, a man entered the woman’s home in Ballyfermot Parade, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10 and threatened her with a hammer.

According to gardaí, “a struggle ensued” before the woman managed to flee onto the street where she sought garda assistance.

Gardaí immediately responded to the incident and a man in his 30s was arrested at the scene. A sum of money, house keys, and car keys were recovered.

The man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in west Dublin.

Investigations are ongoing.
