A man in his 60s has died following a single vehicle collision in Dublin 1 on Thursday night.

At around 11.55pm, the man, who was the driver and sole occupant of a jeep, was injured when the vehicle collided with an electricity pole on the East Wall Road.

He was brought to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where was later pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.

The East Wall Road remains closed between the North Strand Road and Alfie Byrne Road with a technical examination to be carried out by gardaí. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí.
