A man has been arrested after gardaí discovered a cannabis cultivation operation and seized 37 mature cannabis plants in south Dublin.

Gardaí also discovered a substantial quantity of cannabis herb and quantities of suspected MDMA and amphetamine during a search of a residential property in the Stepaside area on Sunday.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is in excess of €300,000, pending analysis.

A man in his 40s was arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently detained at a Garda station in the Dublin region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

He can be held for up to seven days.
