A man has been arrested in connection with a number of ‘romance fraud’ complaints in Ireland.
The man was arrested in the Dublin area following a number of complaints.
The investigation involved gardaí from Dublin and Galway.
It is alleged that victims have been targeted for money through a variety of popular dating apps.
Gardaí raided a house in Dublin on Friday and found a number of electronic items which were seized.
A man in his 30s was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station and has since been released. Investigations are ongoing.
An Garda Síochána is appealing to anyone who believes they may have been a victim of or affected by fraud via dating apps to please contact any Garda station and report the crime.
