Man due in court following hijacking of car in Dublin

A man who was arrested following a car hijacking incident in Dublin is due in court tomorrow.

The incident happened on the Belgard Road, Dublin 24, at around 2.45am.

Gardaí said a man was stopped in his car at traffic lights when another man approached him with a knife.

The armed man entered the car and forced the driver to go to another location. The driver then escaped and contacted gardaí.

Gardaí found the car unoccupied and arrested a man in his 30s nearby.

The man has since been charged and is due to appear in court tomorrow morning.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and ask any road users, especially those with dash-cam footage, who were travelling on the Belgard Road or in the Clondalkin area between 2am and 3am to contact them.
