Man suffers ‘number of injuries’ after ‘dog attack’ in Dublin

Gardai have opened a probe after a man was attacked by a dog in Dublin.

The attack occurred on Sunday morning (September 15) on the Ballyshannon Road in Dublin 5, where a man suffered a number of injuries.

The dog, whose breed has not been confirmed at the time of writing but was described as an ‘XL Bully’ type dog, was seized. It is understood that the dog has since been put down.

Gardaí have responded at the scene of a reported dog attack in Dublin.

It is believed that the man was the owner of the dog.

‘Gardaí were alerted to an incident on Ballyshannon Road in Dublin 5 on Sunday morning, 15th September 2024,’ gardaí told Extra.ie.

‘A man received a number of injuries following a dog attack.

‘The dog was restrained and transferred to the custody of the Dog Warden.’

On September 5, a woman in Dún Laoghaire was rushed to hospital after she was attacked by two dogs.

The woman was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

The dogs, which were bulldogs, were later put down.

In June, a 23-year-old woman died after a fatal dog attack at her home in Limerick after a night out celebrating her birthday.

Nicole Morey, 23, tragically died in the attack on Tuesday night at around 11.40pm.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene at a housing estate in Fedamore, Ballyneety, where Ms Morey  was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
