This morning, around 41,000 ESB customers are currently still without power as a result of the nationwide cold snap – And 40,000 are without water.

Homes, farms and businesses in Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois and Wicklow are worst-affected.

Heavy snow hit some parts yesterday, with a status yellow warning for low temperatures and ice still in place for the entire country until Thursday.

In Dublin, the RSA is urging motorists and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution on the roads and footpaths this morning.

Hazardous weather conditions are continuing to impact people in many areas with a combination of rain, sleet, snow and ice.

Meanwhile Iarnród Éireann has advised customers that it expects all routes except one to operate this morning, but to be aware of the possibility of delays in areas affected by the current snow/ice weather event.
