The chain, which recently announced it would be opening its first store in Great Britain in Leeds, has now announced it will be opening a ninth Dublin store in the spring.

It will be the third out-of-town site opened by Boojum, following the opening of their stores in Blanchardstown and Liffey Valley.

The firm, which opened its first location on Botanic Avenue in Belfast back in 2007, is set to create 30 new jobs with its latest new opening at the Tallaght site.

Azzurri Group last year announced it had acquired a controlling interest in Boojum from Renatus Capital Partners, for an undisclosed sum.

The UK chain also run the Zizzi and Ask Italian restaurant chains.

The business was bought by David and Andrew Maxwell in 2015 as part of a management buy-in, which was backed by investment firm Renatus.

Since opening its first store in 2007, the chain has grown to 15 stores across Ireland, eight of which are in Greater Dublin and four stores in Belfast.

The restaurant will be situated within the previous Wow Burger unit, and customers will be able to enjoy sit-in, takeaway, click ‘n’ collect and delivery services.

Boojum managing director David Maxwell said: “The demand for Boojum in Dublin has blown us away, and we are so thankful to our loyal customers for keeping us busy.

“When we opened Liffey Valley in October, we didn’t expect to open another Dublin store so soon, but we quickly realised that the demand was too high in the other surrounding areas to ignore.

“We are really excited to be opening in Tallaght which is a fantastic area with a lot going on, and working with the team at The Square has been energising, so we knew this was the right move.”

Freda O’Donnell of Sigma Retail Partners, which manages the centre, said: “When Boojum approached us about potentially opening a store within the centre we were excited at the opportunity.

“Boojum is hugely popular here in Dublin, and we are delighted that we can help ensure that it is easier than ever for the residents of Tallaght to get their Boojum fix.

“There is definitely a buzz around The Square ahead of the opening. Boojum is something that you can be in the mood for at any time of day, whether that is at lunch, dinner, for a fun date night, or even before a trip to Movies@ The Square, and so it will be a great addition to the centre.”

Boojum currently employs over 400 staff to work across their 15 stores in Belfast, Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and Galway and is set to continue expanding across the UK and Ireland.
