Cork produced a stunning performance as 1-5 from Brian Hayes dashed the Treaty’s drive for five. 

They lost the 2013 decider to the Banner after a replay and were trounced 3-32 to 1-22 by Limerick in the 2021 final. 

Cork’s championship was almost over when they lost their first two games of the Munster SHC before their 3-28 to 3-26 win over the Treaty on May 11 saved their summer. 

And the Cork will be gumming to lift Liam MacCarthy and return it to Leeside after nearly 20 years of hurt. 

The win, and what it meant to the Cork public was on full display as John Cashman from C103 FM in the county commentated on the game.

And he was full passion during the closing moments of the all-time classic semi-final.

He said: “One more moment, one more moment…one more moment to decide everything here.

“Limerick have to get a goal – otherwise it’s all over if Limerick get a goal – Cork will suffer a dramatic defeat.”

A when the full-time whistle was blown, he roared into life as he hailed the cork team for their display.

He roared: “It’s over, Cork are in the All-Ireland final…Cork are in the All-Ireland final. It is over for Limerick… at last the champions have been beaten.

“The reign and dream has ended, and the Rebel rising is complete. The drive for five is over, and Cork live on All-Ireland final day is going to become a reality.”

The 2024 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship is the 137th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship.

Cork will be looking for their 31st title with Clare aiming for their 5th.
