The use of electric scooters is banned for children under 16 in public places from today, according to new regulations.
Environment Minister Ryan signed the Road Traffic Regulations, which relates to the use of electric scooters, last week.
These regulations set the speed limit for electric scooters to 20km/h for users on all public roads.
Electric scooters should not carry more than one person at a time and should not have a seat.
E-scooters should also not “endanger, impede or inconvenience the driver, other road users or members of the public”.
E-scooter users need to ensure their vehicles are safe to be used on the roads.
