Patrick McKinney has been appointed as the new Partnership Sales Manager for the DP World Tour. Based full time in Ireland, his role will focus on the Amgen Irish Open and 2027 Ryder Cup in Adare Manor.

Patrick joins the Tour with prior golf and sports experience, having worked on the 2011 Solheim Cup, Ladies Irish Open; and in sponsorship within AIB on the award winning AIB GAA Club Championship ‘The Toughest’ campaign.

His commercial sales experience also includes roles with Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and most recently supporting the launch of food sustainability initiative ‘Too Good To Go’ within the Irish market.

“The creation of this new role is a strategic move by the DP World Tour to further strengthen our presence in the Irish market to support the Amgen Irish Open and 2027 Ryder Cup,” said Max Hamilton, Executive Commercial Director of the DP World Tour, and formerly of the FAI in Ireland himself.

“These events continue to grow in stature and popularity and Patrick has the experience and contacts to further maximise their commercial potential.”

“I am thrilled to join the DP World Tour with a hugely exciting period ahead including the centenary of the Amgen Irish Open, coupled with the 2027 Ryder Cup in Adare Manor – golf’s greatest team contest,” added McKinney.

“These are iconic events, and my ambition is to further elevate their stature by uncovering new and exciting partnership opportunities.”

Strategically positioned as a key event on the newly formed ‘Back Nine’ in the DP World Tour calendar, The Amgen Irish Open set to take place on the iconic Royal County Down from 12-15th September 2024 with a star-studded field including home favourites, Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, recently inducted hall of famer Padraig Harrington as well as local favourite and rising star Tom McKibbin, who captured his first DP World Tour title in 2023.

Sport for Business will host its annual Sponsorship Showcase event in Dublin on Thursday morning, October 10th. This is one of many events planned for the remainder of 2024.
