IRELAND is on ‘the watch list’ to host an NFL game according to league chief Roger Goodell.
The Aviva Stadium hosted a college football clash on August 24, with Georgia Tech defeating Florida State.
Sao Paulo will host tomorrow night’s game between Green Bay and Philadelphia as the league visits Brazil for the first time.
London and Munich are also hosting games in the 2024 season.
And NFL commissioner Goodell revealed that the Rooney family — who own the Pittsburgh Steelers — have been in touch about returning to Ireland.
They played a pre-season game against the Chicago Bears at Croke Park in 1997, while Kerry Gaelic footballer Paudie Clifford announced one of the team’s picks in the NFL Draft earlier this year.
Goodell said: “I hear from the Rooneys every other day about going back to Ireland.
“So yes, Ireland is definitely on the watch list, let’s put it that way.”
