The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball offseason has been rolling along for quite a while. We’ve now officially hit the time of the summer where head coach Micah Shrewsberry and company are making a push for their next squad.

Among the players they’re making a big push for is a shooting guard that is not only among the best in the state of Indiana, but also among the best in the country. The good news is that ND is in good standing. The bad news is that they have some serious power programs to contend with.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team had a bit of an up and down season in 2023-24. However, it’s clear that Shrewsberry believes his squad finished the year on an upswing, buying into what he was selling. Now it’s about adding talent like Braylon Mullins to the mix.

Mullins is considered a Top 100 prospect for the 2025 class by all the top recruiting services, with Rivals the most bullish on him at No. 31 in the country.

The 6-foot-5, 185 pound shooting guard out of Greenfield, Indiana has some of the best teams in the country coming after him hard. That includes Indiana, where most analysts believe he’s leaning. But ND is making a push.

He recently camped in South Bend and told Irish Sports Daily that he enjoyed every bit of it. It wasn’t the first time he’d been on campus though, as he took an unofficial last fall to check out Notre Dame football when they were playing Ohio State.

During his visit, he made a comment that could actually be good news for the Irish, pushing his commitment back.

“I was trying to make my commitment before my senior year, but I now may push it back, so it’s 50-50,” Mullins told ISD. “I have a lot more offers than I did. I’m trying to take a lot of officials in the fall. I have a good group of schools, but I don’t have that certain 12. I’m trying to get to 10 by the end of June and then I’ll cut it down to four or five before the season starts.”

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, he said, are in that final group at the moment. Now it’s all about staying there.
