Speaking after the Munster final, Jack O’Connor said ‘the real championship starts here’ and with the provincial championships behind us, it sort of feels that way. Here are three things that should keep us engaged this weekend and beyond.

There is no doubt that for the top teams, the All-Ireland contenders – the Kerrys, the Dublins, the Derrys if you will – that the policy of three teams qualifying from each of the four groups holds little jeopardy for them. Whatever about the reward for topping a group and the ‘penalty’ for coming second and third, there is no sense of the championship having reached its knock-out element for several of the top teams.
