The popular Garden Terrace is well known for its hot food, coffees and tap drinks for people while they wait for their flights.

However, the regular passengers who pop by for a quick pint at the establishment will have to take it elsewhere as it will close tonight and reopen next year.

The shock announcement of its temporary closure was posted on Dublin Airport’s social media pages.

They wrote: “Passenger notice!! The Garden Terrace in T1 will close for refurbishment from tomorrow night (Saturday).

“The popular outlet will be back open – better than ever – in Q1 2025!”

But for those who want to enjoy a few pints from The Garden Terrace, they confirmed that the external garden and bar will remain open, serving tap and hot drinks.

This means that those who want to go for a smoke can do so in the external garden at terminal one.

The service for food and snacks will be suspended until the establishment completes its refurbishment.

Earlier this week, Dublin Airport said farewell to a firm favourite in Terminal 1 after the store closed its doors for good.

Terminal 1’s Boots store shut down on October 31 leaving visitors disappointed.

The popular pharmacy’s closure announcement comes due to ongoing reconfiguration works in the retail area.

The works could no longer accommodate Boots in its current space.

‘AGREEMENT COULD NOT BE REACHED’

Airport officials revealed they’d been in talks with Boots since March, but “an agreement could not be reached that would have kept both parties happy.”

As part of the upcoming changes, the unit currently occupied by Boots will be reduced to make way for a new corridor in Terminal 1.

This will leave travellers without a pharmacy option on that side of the airport.

A Dublin Airport spokesperson said, “We can confirm that Boots’ contract to operate their store in Terminal 1 will expire on October 31.”

They added that the store in Terminal 2 will continue to trade as usual.

The spokesperson hinted at new additions coming soon to the Terminal 1 retail area.

They said: “We look forward to announcing details of exciting new changes and additions to the T1 retail offering very soon, and we’re confident that passengers will like what comes next.

“The Boots store in T2 at Dublin Airport is unaffected by this change and will remain open.”
