It follows a meeting on the controversial City Transport Plan
The Lord Mayor says public transport journey times are down, following the introduction of the Dublin City Transport Plan.
The new restrictions saw a ban on cars between 7am and 7pm on the quays, received some pushback.
It also banned cars from turning left from Westland Row onto Pearse Street.
but so far, it seems to have been a success.
Reduced journey times and increased footfall are some of the benefits to have come since it was introduced last month.
Lord Mayor James Geoghegan says they’re pleased with the figures so far:
“The evidence from Dublin City Council is that the levels of cars on the north quays and the South quays have reduced by over 60% and the evidence from the NTA is that bus journeys have reduced and has made a big difference to bus journey times.”
However, some local stakeholders still aren’t convinced – including business owners and Disabled Persons Organisations.
New proposals for changes to the plan have been brought forward – including ways to get more people into the city for Christmas.
