Amgen marked success in its first year as the title sponsor of the Amgen Irish Open with an event that brought world-class golf and meaningful community impact together.

More than 70,000 fans attended this year’s tournament at the stunning Royal County Down Golf Club, where Rasmus Højgaard triumphed after four thrilling days of play. Amgen CEO Bob Bradway presented the trophy to Højgaard, with local favorite Rory McIlroy placing second and Italy’s Matteo Manassero finishing third.

Amgen remains committed to supporting the communities in which its employees live and work. The company’s deep roots in Ireland, starting in 1998 and expanding to a manufacturing facility in 2011, is a testament to the company’s long-standing dedication to the country.

Through sponsorships like the Amgen Irish Open and partnerships with the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, Cuala GAA Club, and The Aer Lingus College Football Classic, the company aims to foster strong connections with the local community.

This year’s Amgen Irish Open also focused on supporting Make-A-Wish Ireland, official tournament charity partner, which aims to bring hope, strength and happiness to children with severe illnesses. Over £200,000 (around $265,000) was raised at the tournament for the organization, and its incredible work was witnessed on site as golf superstars and Amgen ambassadors Shane Lowry and Pádraig Harrington went above and beyond in giving two young people experiences they will never forget.

Harrington met 17-year-old Danny Rooney, who has overcome significant health challenges, having faced a three-and-a-half-year battle with leukemia. The golf fanatic’s wish was to experience the Amgen Irish Open with his family, and he was treated to an inside the ropes experience with Harrington during the Celebrity Pro-Am.

Lowry, meanwhile, surprised ten-year-old heart transplant recipient Cian Norris with a one-to-one skills workshop at the event. After overcoming multiple health battles following his transplant, Norris’ wish was to be well enough to play golf with his hero Lowry, who offered invaluable tips, lots of laughs and an unforgettable golfing experience.

The Tournament Village provided an exciting experience for spectators, featuring clinics with Amgen ambassadors Eric van Rooyen and Tom McKibbin, interactive activities like a driving simulator and chipping challenge, and opportunities to learn about Amgen’s mission to fight serious illnesses and improve lives.

Looking forward to the 2025 Amgen Irish Open at the iconic K Club in County Kildare, the people of Amgen remain committed to making a positive impact in the communities they serve, both on and off the course.
