A man and a woman have died after a hit-and-run incident in west Dublin.
The woman (30s) was pronounced dead at the scene in Blanchardstown after the collision involving a car and four pedestrians.
The man (40s) was taken to Connolly Hospital where he later died.
The collision happened on Blanchardstown Road North at about 5.45pm on Thursday.
Gardaí arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the incident on Thursday evening.
He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Dublin.
The road has now reopened after a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
Any road users or pedestrians who were in the vicinity of Blanchardstown Road North between 5pm and 6pm and have camera footage, including dashcam, are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
