Shelbourne have appointed former All-Ireland winning Dublin footballer Tomás ‘Mossy’ Quinn as their new CEO.

On Wednesday, the reigning SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division and Women’s FAI Cup champions announced that Barry Mocke had departed the role, thanking him for his contributions during his year at the Tolka Park-based club.

Quinn, who won an All-Ireland medal with Dublin in 2011 as well as seven Leinster titles during a decade-long inter-county playing career, will step in as Mocke’s successor from early April, having been Commercial and Marketing Director for Dublin GAA since 2013.

“I’m thrilled to join Shelbourne FC at such an exciting time in the club’s journey,” said Quinn.

“I’m looking forward to working with the board, the staff and the fans to build on last year’s achievements and taking a leadership role in continuing to lay the foundations for many years of future success and stability.”

He added: “Coming in to the club at this time in its illustrious history is a privilege and it is an immense honour to lead this Dublin institution as CEO.”

Until Quinn officially takes on the role in three months’ time, Shelbourne co-owner Neil Doyle will oversee the club’s operations in the short-term.

He said of Quinn: “Tomás understands what it means to be a football fan, a commercial leader and an elite sportperson – a unique combination which equips him to lead the next chapter in the club’s development.”

The Shelbourne men’s side will kickstart their 2025 season when they face Drogheda United in the curtain-raising President’s Cup final on Friday, 7 February at Tolka Park, before Damien Duff’s side begin their league title defence in earnest when they host Derry City a week later.

The women’s team will also be in President’s Cup action against Athlone Town on 1 March.
