There are currently “significant delays and disruptions” to DART services and northern and southbound commuter services due to an overhead power line fault at Clontarf road, which is unlikely to be solved before 10am.

Northern commuter services are currently operating to and from Killester only.

DART services are only operating between Howth/Malahide and Killester, and between Connolly and Bray/Greystones only.

Irish Rail said that bus transfers are in operation for enterprise services between Drogheda and Connolly.

Irish Rail said in a statement that technical staff are working to “resolve the problem” which has prevented a train leaving Clontarf Road.

The issue has been caused by damage to the overhead lines in the area but the company has said it will take some time for the issue to be resolved and services restored.

Dublin bus will honour all valid rail tickets in the affected area.

However, due to the ongoing closure, commuters are being advised to avoid the area until further notice with local bus services at full capacity due to the “surge in demand”.

Additionally, Bus Éireann has announced that its call centre phone lines are currently down.

Customers with inquiries are advised to email the company or contact them via direct messaging on social media.

Merrion Row is also now closed to traffic until approximately 11pm on Wednesday due to Gas Networks Ireland carrying out essential works.

Traffic is being diverted to Hume Street and Ely Place.
