Brothers Ahmad Hassan (23) and Ali Hassan (20), both of 19 Warrenstown Green, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 came before a sitting of Cavan District Court charged with a series of alleged offences at 51 Latt Hills, Cavan on March 12 this year.
Ahmad Hassan was charged with making a threat to kill or cause serious harm, falsely imprisoning two men and robbing them of their mobile phones totalling over €1,000 alongside assaulting one of the alleged victims while making an unwarranted demand for €8,000.
His co-accused was likewise charged with assault causing harm, two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of robbery and making an unwarranted demand for the same four figure sum.
Sgt Damien Galligan told Judge Stephanie Coggans the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had directed for both men to be sent forward for trial to the Circuit Criminal Court.
Dimitry Grinberg BL, defending and instructed by Aongus McCarthy Solicitors, applied for legal aid on behalf of both men.
The pair were remanded on continuing bail to reappear at a sitting of Cavan District Court on January 16, 2025 for the service of a book of evidence.
They were joined by two other men, Dolnet Kalemba (23) 18 Parkview, Cavan and Richard Ayodele (21) 7 Drumalee Court, Cavan, both of whom were similarly charged in connection to the same incident.
Kalemba, who also had a charge sheet address at 14 Church Street, Athlone, Westmeath was charged with two counts of false imprisonment, robbery, making a threat to kill or cause serious harm, assault, the theft of an iPhone worth €665, making an unwarranted demand for cash and threatening to damage property at 51 Latt Hills, Cavan, Co Cavan on March 12, 2024.
A further threatening to damage property and making an unwarranted demand for money charges related to an alleged offence some 24 hours earlier at 56 Pairc an Duin, Cavan.
Ayodele, meanwhile, was charged with theft and making an unwarranted demand for €8,000 at 51 Latt Hills, Cavan also on March 12 this year.
Two other men, Farouq Oluwanifemi B Adio (21) 43 Tailteann Drive, Windtown, Navan, Meath and Matthew Wilde (19) 54 Tailteann Drive, Windtown, Meath, were also charged in connection to falsely imprisoning one of the male victims at a location in the county of Cavan three weeks later on April 3, 2024.
Wilde also stands accused of producing a black handled knife and assault causing harm during the same incident.
All six were remanded on bail to a sitting of Cavan District Court on January 16, 2025 for the service of a book of evidence.
