Homeowners launch challenge against development as they are locked out of process

South Dublin resident’s association has raised €13,000 in two weeks to finance a High Court

Residents in a south Dublin suburb have come together to raise €13,000 in two weeks to fund a High Court legal challenge to plans by South Dublin City Council (SDCC) to develop 31 social and affordable housing units on a site adjacent to the M50.

The residents in Knocklyon, who were asked to contribute €150 per household, are unhappy that the council had used a provision known as Section 179A that allows local authorities to develop residential zoned sites without going through the normal consultation process and a vote of councillors.
