The State should consider funding the training of newly qualified barristers working in areas such as criminal, administrative and social welfare law, the recently installed chair of the Council of the Bar of Ireland has said.
The suggestion by Senior Counsel Seán Guerin comes amid concerns over drop-out rates among early-career members of the criminal Bar due to difficulties they have making a living.
