Celebrity chef Kevin Dundon has cleared a planning hurdle which could see a pool and gym added to the offerings at Dunbrody Country House Hotel in Arthurstown.
An Bord Pleanala’s board has come out in favour of the plans, following a planning inspector’s initial refusal on the grounds of access.
Agent John Kennedy, Elliot Design, Duncannon, acting on behalf of appellants Kevin and Catherine Dundon, appealed against the refusal of a Disability Access Certificate with respect to the construction of a single storey, split level structure to accommodate a swimming pool and gym area, including some limited modification work to the adjacent spa and cookery school buildings.
The floor area of the proposed extension runs to 244 sq.m.
The board said it considered the provisions of the Building Regulations 1997, finding that the planned works would comply with these rules, adding that there would be conditions to the granting of planning. Among these are a platform lift to ensure access to all users to the full range of services. The approach route to the pool and gym must have an accessible entrance and an accessible shower and changing facilities must be provided.
